hello guys! I have a big rpeoblem! I have couple of Panasonic SX series models, all in mint shape but each one of them have the same proble. They work flawless on the reverse sode but sound terrible on the front side- the wow and flutter is very obvious. I can't imagine I have lemons because all the models I have are different. I have the following models:
SX3 - probably the best soundsing walkman I have ever heard (including the Sonys and Aiwas but excluding the DC2) SX33 - very solid performance imo with really good bass and midrange, slightly lacking on highs, build quality is really good and for today's standards is actually quite unbelievable SX20 - a more modern walkman with good features, sounds decent SX73 - terrible sound quality with recessed mids and highs and really boomy bass that muddies the entire midrange SX71 - a solid performer SX91 - should be better than SX71 but is not, the highs atr harsh and it becomes unlistanable really fast SX75 - really beautiful sound with clear and warm midrange, extended highs and a large soundstage, a little lacking in the meat but very solid all-arounder (actually quite underrated but superior to all the newer Sonys such as EX7, EX20 and the EX910) I have had some other models but they were not special in any way. So, can anyone help me over here. Some have stated it's a belt problem but I don't wanna jump to any conclusions. They have been dorment so it is possible.
Terrible thing happened... the DC2 broke down (the gear alright) and I am not sure whether to fix it or not. this has been the last straw and I am considering of selling them all. I have an MZ-NH1 minidisc and in terms of sound it leaves them miles behind (except the DC2, it's midrange and presence are just unbeatable) and I was planning on getting the MZ-RH1 too which is better in terms of usability and flexibility. they sound however the same. I dunno what to do...
AgentOrange was so kind to offer me to fix my DC2. I cannot find a replacement DD with a good gear under 120 friggin dollars. It just seems the time has come to stop dreaming about cassette.
