Found out why the head broke due to spring that pop loose, and idiot mediterrano71
force the tape out breaking tape guides off the head, look like he did it when he changed the belt, so know it need a new p/b head.
partnumber is 11ab067 anyone with ex1- ex5 uses the same head.

Just fixed the playback problem was a bad voltage regulator q601 luckly the defective EX3 I pulled the head from had the same PCB pull used the regulator off board, unit now finally works perfect.

it looks like a bit of work to correct the problem. is all that necessary to get the damaged head out of there ?

How else I know the seller knew it was broken he try to glue the broken piece back on. You will see the red in the picture.
