hi guys I've just purchased a non working wmex808hg and was wondering if anyone can shine a light on what is causing it not to function properly ..heres whats happens: as soon as I put a fully charged nimh battery in the motor turns one way and then the other and the head gear moves slightly but when I press play it just switches off then when I try to ff or rew the motor turns one way then the other but without any movement from the head mechanism and then it just switches off again,when I took the back off the unit and turned the drive wheel by hand it resets the gear bringing the head off the tape and then ff and rew work but soon as I try pressing play it just runs for a second or so turning back and forth (the motor) and then it switches off ,now my thoughts were that it could need a new belt but would the fact that the belt has to be an exact tension cause all these problems ...please any help would be much appreciated guys cheers Mike
hi there thank you for your response ,after spending a long time looking over the machine I tried to double the belt over the motor wheel just to see if it had any effect ,and yes your right it worked fine it just needs a new belt as the old one must have been stretched to twice its original size and was just slipping!
