I just bought one at Good Will for $5.50, bundled with cheapie airline headphones. It's scratched up, the door won't stay shut, and it's missing some screws. More seriously, while the motor always runs when a function is engaged, the unit won't always do anything more. When it does, the fast-forward and fast wind modes are loud, while the machine won't take up tape in play unless I keep tapping the take up reel to entice it to spin. If I don't, it chews the tape. Oh yeah, and it makes a light thunking sound when I tap the take up reel to make it spin.
Might this be fixable, and if so, how? Is this Walkman worth anything significant in poor condition without its original headphones? I'd be stoked if it were worthless enough I could use it day to day.
those ones are only worth anything in good or very good condition, with orig. accessories even more. in a poor state they've got only sentimental value. as you subscribe the problems of yours it's unfortunately a case for the bin... sorry to tell u that !
...but to b honest: i would have picked it up myselfe...
Yes the Boodo Khan has the dreaded center gear that cracks.. when bad causes eating of tapes and loud noticeable clicking.
