Aiwa PB-S5A Battery

- 2010-04-27 11:04

I've been looking for this battery for a long time and I know that they are no longer available. However, I located a used one last week. My first question to the seller was, can this be recharged and what is the date stamped on the end of it. She said she did not know if it could be recharged since she didn't have the charger. The date, she said was 6/95. My first thought was that it's probably DOA since I've never seen a PB-S5A that old that was any good. She did say that it's output was 1.2V from the voltmeter. To make a long story short, I bought is from her and it arrived here yesterday. I immediately charged it for a long time and it then read 2.3V. I put it in the HS-PX557 and whoala, it began to play! After about 15 minutes, the green light changes on the 557 to orange which means it's losing power. I've had new PB-S5A's which lasted a fair amount of time before being used up but this one has little or no reserve. Can anyone tell me if there is a way to recharge these to regain their original output or is this something I'll just have to live with? Any answers will be appreciated.

You can try to charge the battery for weeks in some Aiwa unit and empty from time to time but you won´t get much more capacity. I´m sorry.

We have to pray and wait for someone willing to create a battery filled up with watch cels.
