Hi all,
My name is Hugo. This is one of my first messages here. I'm not a serious collector of walkmans but I do have now some jewels (well, I think they are).
I recently received a JX505 and when trying to charge the PB-4 inside the walkman, by putting it over the charger, the display did some flashes and now it's not working at all. Even with external batteries.
I inspected electrical contacts and saw it has four, all very close to each other, so I thought it can be a bad design, because it's easy that the user makes a bad contact when trying to charge the unit.
Do someone suffered from something similar?
Regards,
PD: Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native languaje.
i see no problem with your english. anyway i bought the same model from ebay a couple of weeks ago. i found it has alot of buttons and other levers to perform the functions. anyway, i went for a walk and for no reason it stopped dead. there was no power at all, like the batteries went dead. that wasn't the problem, i have no idea what is going on. i used it on 2 aaa batteries and even tried my aiwa 2 volt power-pac. it still did nothing at all. that is the condition it is in right now. i think something is not making it's electrical connection. i don't know this model at all but i am going to try pulling the back off to see if there is a short or loose wire visable. if i have any success at all i will post it right under the tech. talk section here. if anybody out there has a simple fix would they please post it on here as i really like the player for it's sound quality. lastly,,can somebody please tell john edward i am alive and well but for some reason i can't get the connection right on this windows 7 new computer we have. john edward where are you ??????????

Dear Hugo ! You can´t charge a lead acid battery on station if it´s not a perfectly working one. You need to use another type like a PX310 or 410 to load them up.
The problems you have can not have been caused just by putting the unit into the charging station. This has to be caused by some older problem, probably broken contacts. A repair might be very difficult. If the unit worked flawlessly before that accident it would make sense to give it a try but if there had been any other flaws before, I would not waste my time. As non professional we might produce damages while opening these unit.

Dear Eingang,
thank you for your help. The problem is that I'm not sure it works after I putted over the charger, because it was the first thing I did when I received the unit.
While trying to charge it, I saw the screen flashing some times, telling me that the unit was turning on and off quickly because of the electrical contacts. It seemed contacts didn't work so good, but still worked a bit.
I think I'll send to the service to repair.
