Hiya Guys & dolls

I just managed to get one of these in near enough mint condition with case in black. It even has the detachable aerial in perfect nick.

I used to have a white one but that was about 20 years ago.

Now here is the problem:- NO POWER GETS THROUGH THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT OR THROUGH THE ADAPTER

I have looked inside it but nothing i can see seem to be at fault. I even checked the tension on the cassette belt and that seems just right.

Anyone can help me on this or even possible repair it.
