I have two broken WMs-D6Cs that I want to get running. One goes at half speed (or thereabouts) on battery power, the other seems to have two problems. There is no audio output and the motor seems to run continuously. Ie. put the battery pack in and you can feel a rumble with none of the switches depressed. The nature of this rumble seems to change also when the speed control is switched in and out. Much worse on one of them, though I don't remember which.
I have read here that there is a switch that switches the amp off on FF an RW, though I don't know where this is. This would account for the some of the behaviour. Maybe it could cure the rumble too?
On the other the speed usually doubles if IC601 is damaged. Is this true also when run on the battery pack? (I haven't yet built a regulated supply for them.) Is there anything else that could account for this? I really don't want to be changing that IC if I can avoid it. It is under dozens of loose wires, some glued felt and who knows what else. (I though the inside of a Nak BX-300 was full of wires, but the WM Pro is frightful.)
