Aiwa hs-px303 sound problem

minty - 2010-12-31 12:31

Greetings all.

I recently purchased an aiwa hs-px303 cassette player. It's play rewind and fast forward functions all work fine. The problem is with the sound. I can hear the music playing, but at a very low volume. Anyone know what the problem could be?

I'm going to hazard a guess judging from my Aiwa collection- More bad capacitors! My HS-G101 and jx2000 had low levels which was solved by replacing the electrolytic caps.

Derek, I agree with Bub that this is most definitely a case of bad capacitors muting the sound.

I have yet to receive my PX30 in the post, but should it have a similar issue I'll no doubt open mine up to replace them too.

I have decided to sell this unit. I would not have the skills to replace the caps. Here is the item number: 200560884836. It is listed on ebay uk. It would be a nice unit if someone could repair it.

Sorry to hear that. It's a shame that all Aiwas from this period seem to suffer from bad caps- ruining otherwise great machines.
