Hi guys, im new here and stumbled across this site. Started getting into collecting vintage walkmans. I recently purchased a brand new WM-EX651 but its started to chew my tapes. Any help would be appreciated.

Can be many reasons. First check pinch roller condition/clean tape path a necessary.

Check if the takeup reel is turning properly. If the unit has a window too small to show the takeup reel, Get a junk tape, unscrew and remove the Door cover and check. You can then also inspect the tape path with the cover off.

It is likely that the belt needs to be changed. If the belt is loose, the capstan may still turn but the takeup reel may slip.
