Welcome to the world of these tiny beauties Dale...I'll fix you up with a belt or two...not a problem. Hope the repairs go well ( Dottor Walkman & Retrodos, both members of s2g might be willing to help with repairs if things aren't an easy fix)

best wishes & welcome to s2g

Hey DocP Thanks for getting back so quick! legend..
i will see how i go with the fix.. but since im not hearing anything now. so i think ill most probably have to go down that road.. unless its something like a solder touching.. which i was reading about and have yet to check out...

hopefully its something simple shes in good shape... ill have to put a photo up tommorow..  im a bit new to walkmans with bits this small haha...

but yeah.. how do we do this ? did u want to leave us ur email so we can take it from there ?.. definately hook you some dollars for a belt man!

wm-40/wm 10 RV

Although completely unrelated to the  series being discussed (wm10 & its siblings)...I have had a lot of enquiries regarding this model as it seems to follow numerically (wm 30, wm40 )...as the next...so hope this helps:

Hey DocP,

I have a WM-F18 with a missing battery cover. cannot locate the part anywhere! Any suggestions? I believe the part number is 3-327-521--01

Thanks so much!

Benno

Ugh, this is trouble, so the ribbon cable for the radio of my F10-II was snapped, with the tape player ribbon torn, it finally went today, just completely separated from the casing too. I don't trust myself to attempt the fix without screwing up the player further. DocP, do you know anyone who can perform the repairs to the ribbon so I can get my thrift store baby working again?

Hi,

As it is only four tracks if I remember right scraping the 'plastic' coating off the flex pcb allows for a 'bypass' soldering of a few strands of wire and then enclosing the mend job with cellotape to mimic the flex pcb.

If you want to try it out I can try giving you step by step guidance by way of PM/Dialog

Happy Mending

Appreciate the follow up, but I'd rather have someone with steadier hands repair it. I've tried starting a dialog with retrodos but it says I don't have permission, should I start a new thread asking for offers on repair?

docp - 2015-02-01 09:28

You could...but the problems

1. to & fro shipping charges

2. damage in spite of insurance

3. Unrealistic expectations - dissatisfaction with repairs

4. Inability to repair

5. Turnaround time

These few factors may risk turning two perfect gentlemen into raging bulls over what is essentially a 'cr@p' piece 'electronic junk' which unfortunately we value more than family at times

So ask for repairs ...but don't land anyone in trouble because of it ...Stereo2go is not responsible for situations that have turned unintentionally /unpredictably sour

...so back to square one...why not try it yourself..I'll guide you along by dialog/PM

I understand, I'll post a request up there. In the meantime I'll try to build build up enough confidence to do this repair myself with your helpful guidance. But probably not since I've found a unit on auction with a worn belt, that I can repair much easier. Thank you so much for your honest advice!
