Can Anyone replace belt on my Aiwa HS JX-879?

Hi i just found a walkman in my late dad's cupboard and found this small box which to my shock is a superb Aiwa HS JX879. (will post pictures later)
I tried it and what a superb sounding unit it is.

I tried to play the tape but nothing.

I looked inside to check belts and they have gone soft. But the system is complicated for you to put a new belt in.

Can anyone do this???

Or does it means that the walkman will be rendered useless.

I dont know about yours.
But im replacing a belt on another aiwa walkman.
You might need to remove all of the case
and than the internal board will fold out
like an accordian, and belt can be replaced.

I have an old HS-G09 which i replaced the belt with ease.
But this model internal board seems to be stuck to the chassis even i have took out five screws but no luck. It lifted up by a few mm as i don't have the small tool to even put it in and put it round the motor.

Thanks for your reply though.

Hi,

Thanks for that as some walkmans allow you do do that but that is on the earlier Aiwas

This aiwa uses the new sony type gumstick battery so it is more modern i think.

I send you some pictures direct to you on the weekend so you can have an idea.

Much appreciated again,

Colin
