I bought a Sony Sports WM-F73 at a thrift store today. It cost me about $6. I also found at the same place a very vintage pair of Realistic headphones by Tandy/Radio Shack for $3! The walkman is nice and clean, obviously well taken care of. The belt clip is there and the little rubber 'caps' that cover the power and headphone jacks are intact.
Well, I bought a fresh package of 7 cassettes. I brought eveything home and tried to record some songs by Siouxsie and the Banshees on to it with a tape recoder hooked to my computer and when I play the new recorded tape in the walkman, it sounds a little too fast. When I play it in the tape recorder, it sounds fine. I think the walkman is playing too fast. How do I adjust the speed?
I tested a 'Huey Lewis and the News' tape in the tape recorder and it sounds okay. It is an original tape. So I thought I'd ust it for a speed test. The tape recorder is a Yamaha Natural Sound Sterio Cassette Deck K-520
I don't know what the 'Huey Lewis and the News', because I don't have 100% calibrated hardware for a reference.
It could be the tape deck, or it could be the walkman. I had hoped that I could open the lid on the walkman and turn a pot with a screwdriver to slow it down.
Anybody ever work with this walkman before? I couldn't find any information on it or any schematics.
