Hello everyone,
I'm looking for about two weeks for the two belts of above mentioned walkman, original parts are RDV0037 and RDV0038. Seems like nobody has the originals but I'm having hard time finding reasonable substitutes. Does anyone know if and where may I find a solution?
Thank you,
Costin
Hi Costin Dan,
I also have exactly the same problem with you ! (RQ-SX50V & Belts)
Today arrived the belts from our friend "DocP", not exactly the specific parts though.
I got an assortment of 25 belts because I have other models too.. I think they would be OK...
I talk to you when I'll finish the surgery..
Regards,
Fotis
Hello Fotis,
Good luck with the surgery. It shouldn't be very hard to perform, if you need the full service manual for 50V please contact me at costindan at gmail dot com. I replaced them once more before with the original parts, you need philips screwdrivers (ph000 ph00 ph0, ph00 is the most useful) some soldering tool with grounding, lowest power you have because the printed circuit board is very thin, a suction tool for the solder, a tool to open the case without leaving scratches on it (I used some tool with a plastic tip, part of the shell is taped with dual adhesive band) and a pair of tweezers to handle the new belts without leaving fingerprints on them. This is particularly important because the new belts should not slip and must not be soiled during installation. Be careful about the white grease which is around parts within the mechanism. You will need to open the case and then unscrew the PCB after which you should unsolder about 12-14 points on the PCB. Then the PCB can be opened like a book cover around the flexible PCB that connects the head with the rest of the circuit. Be careful with that flexible PCB because it is very thin and has a shape that concentrates stress in the material around 2 or 3 corners, very easily to break. The belts are now accesible for removal but you will need to unfasten the motor in order to install the new belt on it. The hardest part is to put the RDV0037 belt around the motor, you will have to widen the gap between a printed circuit board inside the motor and the engine rotor. But as I said if you need the service manual I can give it to you and help you with some pictures I have with my unit during the process. Keep me updated about the progress, I will most likely ask DocP to help me with new belts, the original ones are nowhere to be found anymore.

Belts just putted on..they working so well ..THANKS DocP..!!
Of course I have the service manual..I couldn't do anything without it..
As for the motor, I removed the safety
washer on the upper center and then removed (hard a bit) the upper half..it was very easy then to put the belt on..
My oldy sweaty..back to life again..
By the way Costin Dan,
Is your RQ-SX50V any noisy..I think mine is a little bit
In FF or REW its OK all sounds normal.. but on playback..vznhr..vznhr.. any ideas..could I fix it somehow..??
Regards..
Fotis
Glad it worked, I'll contact DocP myself, I didn't have any success in finding something suitable. About the noise, it is much the same here, imo it has to do with the gears, mine doesn't show signs of wear but one of the gears doesn't fit so tight into the other so that could be the source of noise. It appeared during the time and I guess it is normal wear. I will investigate further during this service mission and keep you updated. So... about the belts, are they the proper thikness, the original ones are about 0.6-0.7 mm thick. Do I contact DocP on PM or something? Do you have his e-mail address? And one last thing about the delivery and payment, how did you do it?
Thanx,
Costin

As for the belts I'm afraid they are more thick than the original (0.8mm) but it seems to be working fine!
DocP had told me about the thickness, I'm afraid that he hasn't any thinner though..
As for the communication with him I suggest to send him PM.
The delivery was OK with signed air mail, took about 10 working days. As for the payment, that is a matter that would be better to discuss with him, I can only say that it was very OK with me..

RDV0037 and RDV0038 belt substitutes
One belt has an internal diameter of about 24mm and the other one about 32 mm. The belts that I have match the diameter but are approx 0.7/0.8mm thick unlike the originals which are 0.6/0.7mm.
Antun, Fotis,Costin and a few others say they serve the purpose, so happy mending folks!
