Help DD9 wow and flutter
surfstussy - 2011-06-28 10:50
My DD9 has just started to wow and flutter on the forward play although the reverse play is ok. Has one of the motors died? Does any one have experience of this and have a solution?
Thanks

While I do not have a DD9, I'd check:
Pinch rollers. Check for indents/deterioration.
Internal Belts: somewhat unlikely as the 2 internal belts drive the reels from the capstan, not the capstan itself.
Internal Rubber Tyres: May have indents in them.

You should send Dottor Walkman a PM, he is the one for this job. I have just got back my DD9 which he has been upgrading today. I have not had a chance to have a good long listen but the quick listen that I have it’s a lot better then when I sent it to him. It now sounds better then my DC2, so it will now be my everyday Walkman. I need to do more tests at the weekend and it will be up against my D6C and Nakamichi CR7.

Well I got the courage up to partially take it apart tonight. Something was rubbing on the main drive wheel, I don't know what but by the time I put it back together it is working fine. Whether it will hold is another matter. I am now listening to Jah Wobble/Pharaoh Sanders in perfect time.
Execellent.

There we go! I really WISH I had a DD9. I can't believe I missed a local ebay auction for one for a SB of S$50 and BIN of S$99.
