I hear the motor in my Wm 701c but nothing is working. Any thoughts?

Probably needs a new belt.

Are they easy to get / install?

Belts should be easy enough to get hold of. Either send our resident belt vendor DocP a private message (Dialogs button at the top menu bar) or you can try turntableneedles.com for a replacement belt.
