I've just given a WM-2091 (similar chassis to WM-EX 49) to a friend as he's getting into all things vintage and tape based in a big way. He says " I have fitted the replacement belt and it is working mechanically OK, but I have no audio output except for a droning noise, a bit like a set of bagpipes! Perhaps I have disturbed some wiring or something"... can any board members point us in the right direction?

Sounds like that blown 330 uf capacitor that i have in my wm-2091, as well as my three wm-190. it's on it's way to not working anymore. But i imagine if you replace that lousy cap, things will be good to go. Unless you get the shrunk gears too.
