I am trying to repair this for someone.  The rewind and fast forward are driven with two gears that are pressed together by a spring.  The spring is held down by a white plastic piece that slips onto the shaft over the spring.  It looks as thought the white piece has cracked from stress and will no longer stay on.  Any ideas?

Can you post a pic Matt, I have a bag 'o' bits left over from a failed attempt at fixing one of these.  Unless of course they have the same issue which is 'reasonably' unlikely.
