WM-7 Belt Replacement Guide

Hello Rerooted,

As promised, kindly find illustration below to help you in replacing the WM-7 drive belt.

Remove screws no.1 and 2 first as illustrated above.

Slowly pry and remove the control switches function panel. Then followed by removing screw no.3

Carefully flip over the board and you can see the tape drive mechanism. ( Be careful not to break the delicate flex cables and servo motor wiring. )

You can now perform the belt replacement without any hassle.

Always perform a full functional test of your walkman after you assemble back the unit.

Bravo!  This is an excellent guide.  Belt change on the WM-7 can be a fearfull task.

thanks a million. i have a new belt and don't believe i ruined anything on my one attempt. i am going to give it another shot and who knows,, i may get lucky. a picture is worth a thousand words,, alot more confidence too....rerooted....

One more reminder, as you mount back the control after the belt replacement do ensure 2 switches namely the 'Hold' and FWD/REV direction ( located in between the flywheels) to securely snug back to its position or else you may find the walkman will not function properly.
