Sony Walkman WM-7
muvipix - 2012-10-03 12:34
I have a Sony WM-7 w/case for sale if anyone wants it. It's in good condition. Just put batteries in it and the motor works - just not sure if it works entirely as I have no cassettes to test it with. The cassette door latch doesn't lock, but that didn't hinder playing the last time I listened
Was going to post on Ebay, but found this site and thought I'd give you guys a shot first. Ask questions/make offer. Not real sure how much it's worth.

Let us have your address and we'll send you a cassette to test it with.
Or, as we suspect, you have tested it and it doesn't work very well?

Hi Ron, do you have the original headphone with this unit?

Do you have pictures showing condition and what color is it?

It works, I just haven't had a cassette in over 20 years; been completely digital for years.
Like I said, press play and the mechanism launches and, depending on the selection, auto-reverses -- continues playing. The spindles aren't rotating, but I don't know if it's because a cassette isn't inserted (and stops), or the belt is bad/broke.
I'll have to look to see if I have the original headphones. I wouldn't think that the ear foams would last this long, but you never know.
Yes, I will post pics tomorrow.

If you have the orig. headphones it will make the value and desirability of the WM-7 much greater as they are excellent sounding over ear headphones and most important the first headphones with in line remote to control the logic controls on player. If the cogs are not spinning then the belt is broke. Fairly complicated player to replace a belt on. Not to be tried if not seasoned doing such things.

Sorry, no headphones. I did find a pair of old Sony "Discman" headphones (apparently when I graduated to CD) but... wrong forum.
Here are the images:

Is the door missing some crucial components?

Yeah, something doesn't look right here, isn't there supposed to be a frame that accepts the cassette when inserted?
muvipix - 2012-10-06 03:38
Yeah, that was the issue. I wasn't even aware of it.
Gonna throw it on ebay for parts.
