Precision Screws

docp - 2012-10-29 06:48

Quite often we either end up dropping one of these tiny fellows( on an average 1.4 dia, 1.4 to 2mm long!!) and live up to the image of men always being boys by getting down on all fours and crawling around in search for it. Those of us who don't have a carpet under our work table are a bit luckier although I guess the 'misinterpreted' sight of her man with a vacuum cleaner working the carpet with precision and intensity has been the secret behind some good evenings . Now that I have a bit of your attention is there no way of just saying what the heck and reaching into a big jar of these things....we might be lucky :

Well Ira, what we walkmaniacs drop on the floor are these teeny weeny 1.4mm screws that are absurdly small screws that are everywhere both outside and inside walkmans ...wish amazon had them

I hate when that happens, looking for that tiny screw that rolled of the table or bounced somewhere....what i do is put the screws in a mechanics magnetic nut and bolt tray to prevent that

Lovely

I go with the homemade remedy of a paper wrapped around a fridge magnet so that you can even write down 'legends' like screw locations

Hey Docp!

Brilliant idea with fridge magnet!!

As one who's dropped a few of these screws and eyeglass screws, you CAN vacuum them up and recover them easily.

Put a pair of simple pantyhose over the nozzle and sweep away. just make sure you shut it off over a pillow case or something with a contrasting background. It makes it easier to sort through

It beats the hell out of scrounging on all fours

See didn't I tell you things would work out Love the pantyhose idea ...it beats the struggle of running a horseshoe magnet through the rubbish collected and it is a lovely way of creating memories around our hobby for when S2G buddies get together

I could do with a small selection myself, especially those for small motors.
