I have one of those RCA Victor "Sound Tape Cartridge" format came out in 1958, machine "Sound Tape Recorder" I have from 1962. tape pretty much 1/4 inch tape running at 3 3/4 i.p.s and can be recorded in stereo.

Not only before Philips 'invented' the compact cassette but auto reverse as well! RCA should have taken Philips to the cleaners!!
