How to fix Sony PS-F9 clamping system?

Lately my European PS-f9 started to have trouble clamping a record.
At first it needed help by manually lifting the record a few mm, but slowly the motor started to lose torque. It now stops halfway trying to clamp.
So how do I troubleshoot this? Is it the coil inside the motor?

Well whadda you know... it's about 21 degrees celcius today and it seems that the clamping motor has revived itself. Last time I tried it was 13 degrees celcius (I know, I'm a living popstickle).
