Recently pulled two box's of Walkmans from storage unit, each box contains approx 24 Walkmans. I also have the same unit in my home, to use on regular basis, but these now require new belts, however the stored units work perfectly. I pull them from storage twice a year , to rotate the drive belts(stops kinks developing) even after a couple of weeks Of testing they still perform better sound wise as well, anyone else had similar experience or is it just me.

I have currently 150 working units and about 30 non working units. There about 20 that i always use daily even for just 10 or 20 mins a day, these are DD-9, D-6c, DC-2, HS-PX101(love this one), Sanyo MG-80d and many others, i get lazy and be bother rapping them up to put away. Just opened a box a few days ago, have 2 DCC players in it tested them last night and then function perfectly, but the 2 i have in my room (same age) require new belts. Listening to a AIWA CS-1 a the moment on my Sony dock sounds excellent, it will take a week to fully test 25 units (kids allowing) but some times I find one that may require extra attention. Belt issues cause the biggest concerns, availability is a problem in the UK. I have a couple of red an yellow units, this is problem because my 8yr old (or is she 9) who regularly takes one without letting me know, which can affect there physical condition, I try to fob her off with my iPod but she says every body's got one of them, guess she just wants to be different or annoying. Tomorrow it's the WM-4's (I have Red and Silver ones) that will have my attention.
