Aiwa JX707 reverse issue. ???

exchanger - 2013-03-26 10:21

Hello,

Does anybody had the issue described below? Any ideas what is a root cause?

Aiwa HS-JX707d

Successfully replaced capacitors and belt. Sound is great, playing speed also OK. But only FWD direction

Press Fwd button - rewind on fwd direction

Press REW button - rewind on fwd direction too

Press PLAY - play on fwd

Press PLAY again - something moves and clicks inside but play fwd again

In all cases above FWD displayed on screen. I know that reverse works. It worked with old belt and two times switched on REW with new belt when I tested first time.

Most likely a cracked flexible PCB cable at the hinge area. The JX707 is known to suffer badly from this.

You are right! When i touch the big cable in hinge area, device started to play or rewind. So it looks that i need second dead Jx707 for parts  Fortunately at least forward playback works good.

Or will try to learn electrical diagramm and replace brocken links in the cable by thin wires.

Second donor JX707 won't help, as it most likely will also suffer a similar fate. Also flexible PCB ribbon is very difficult to remove from door PCB without hot air station.

With a continuity meter you can check to see which connections are damaged.

The flexible PCB is folded over itself and very hard to repair break. It is usually at the fold it splits. Easier to use very thin flexible enamelled copper wire from old earphone cable and bridge from main PCB to door PCB.

Once you bridge the connection, you need to protect the flexible PCB ribbon and enamelled copper wire with new low friction tape to allow it to move when the door opens and closes.

Be aware that now there is a tear, it may grow and in future you may get other malfunctions too if it is not repaired.

Thank you a lot! I found a damaged lines in the cable. At least six lines brocken. Will try to put wires between door and main PCBs as you recommended.

I got a bad example of JX707 -  everything brocken inside because previose owner tried to repare without success.... solenoids, capacitors, buttons PCB ...

Yes, the JX707 is a very difficult to repair model that strangely attracts idiots to have a go at repair and fail.

Done! Now it works well. 7 thin wires put near the cable.

Good job

Did you wrap it all with frictionless tape at the hinge area to allow it all to move freely too?

Many thanks for your tips! I used original low-friction tape/ It was already present around the cable. Thin wires i put inside fold of cable . Unfortunately I did not make a foto because was so happy and assebled device quickly
