lubricating gearing

whilst my hs-px 101 is apart awaiting a new belt what are your thought on using a small amount of molybdenum grease on the gearing wheels ?

To initiate some replies/interaction ..

 

I would recommend that you use something that is 'plastic safe' . But common sense would dictate that sewing machine oil or petroleum jelly just might do the trick.

 

To make it easy to apply in tight spots I've experimented with eye ointment only because the major 'vehicle'/base component is pure petroleum jelly and the dispensing nozzle is super narrow

I've used sewing machine oil for plastic before, and Tamiya RC molybdenum grease on some metal parts.

I use Marklin (for model trains) oil for metal bearings like capstan, motor, etc. And Robbe 5532 Teflon grease for gears, plastic bearings and all other mechanical stuff...
