Hight frequency dropout.

What would cause high frequency's to randomly dropout on left or right channels during playback ?   It never happens at the same point on a tape and the tapes have been tested in a component tape deck to check them.   This is happening in my newly belted hs px 101 which has been  cleaned thoroughly by hand, but has sat unused for 15 years .

Old Capacitors  dried out, working intermittently!

Not giving same value  needed every time

Need replacement

Thanks! I think.   Caps had been in the back of my mind when i started to try and bring the player back to life . Might aswell replace them all whilst i'm at it i suppose.

Must say though that i have been playing it for an hour to loosen things up and since my post things have improved vastly. Still an insight on things to come i would imagine

The logic controls still have a mind of their own thought, but have read that is common on these players .

Is DSL enabled when this happens? If so it could be the switches need cleaning, in particular the high frequency one.

Hi

As far as i know the DSL is ok it was all cleaned and seems to operate ok . What i have noticed is that the 80 mm belt i fitted is still slipping so i have ordered a 75 mm belt ,so i shall wait and see if the fault repeats itself once the tape speed is correct .
