Hi

 I Just found a mint sony wm-2091 in a cupboard . I replaced the battery but all i got was a high pitched whine almost drowning the sound ,after 5 minutes all i get is a high pitched whine with the sound just audible in the background!  Any ideas ??

Edited to add :  Now the whine has gone , I can hear music and whine in the distant background (just) .

Try another pair of headphones?

Three sets tried,its the player i think ! Its turned into high pitch morse code now ??

High pitched whine = leaked capacitors that need replacing.

Its not a massive issue . Worth it and keeps me out of the pub !
