My WM-DC2 and Dr Walkman

Earlier this year I won a WM-DC2 on ebay from a buyer who described the device as having a "slight clicking noise" that didn't affect play. I mentally didn't accept this as a precise description but was determined to be the lucky bidder. My suspicions were confirmed when the DC2 chewed the very first tape I tried to play despite being outwardly in excellent condition. Another search on ebay indicated a few people willing to repair these clicking wheels but my research indicated there was only one person I wanted to do the job...........Doctor Walkman, the tech from Italy.
Having made initial contact with him he described his passion for these devices. He agreed to fix my Walkman but I would have to join a queue and be patient. I have to admit to being a little impatient though but the work did eventually get underway. Dr Walkman explained exactly what he was doing to my machine and suggested making other adjustments to really bring out the DC2's excellent sound quality. I gave him the go-ahead to adjust the azimuth and do whatever "tweaking" he felt was necessary to make my Walkman shine. I'm not going to reveal costs here as I'm sure this can vary but I feel it was worth every cent.
Dr Walkman was gracious enough to continue communications and give very valuable technical advice (worth money in itself) as the DC2 winged its way back to Ireland. On receiving the device I was amazed at the extremely high quality playback and of course no clicking wheel. There is no desire whatsoever to seek any form of equalization, the SQ is simply amazing for a 30yr old device. I cannot source how much these cost in the mid '80's but they must have been fairly expensive.
I'm writing this because I want to publicly endorse Dr Walkman's work, professionalism and value for money. He is also a very approachable person often responding to emails within minutes ( even when I was being impatient). If anybody is considering having a Walkman repaired he is the guy to talk to in my personal experience.

The cost about £140 when they came out. Yes they sound excellent and i have 5 of them. Most of them have been to dottor walkman for a fix and tuneup.

I'll have mine soon, and I guess it can have slightly better base quality than my upgraded Boodo Khan with DC2 head, but I'm not sure.
The boodo Khan is based in the DDII... but the DC2 is on the DD3, which adds quartz lock, so it's supposed to have better speed stability in some temperature conditions...
