Sony WM-1 Issue

rthead - 2013-08-28 12:39

His Stereo2Go - New user here. I picked up a WM-1 the other day and finally had a chance to mess with it. Of course it didn't turn on, but I removed and cleaned off the battery contacts, and it's alive! The belt, however old, is working. Unit is almost working, but when I press play and engage the cassette, the tape begins to pool in the area highlighted by the red box in the photo.

Also, the reverse and ffwd are not working. Any ideas where to start?

Let me know if I can provide additional photos or videos. Thanks!

1. Tape pooling - improper tape transport : might be an old pinch roller ( the black rubber wheel) with a shiny surface - can remedy it by gently holding a piece of fine water emery paper against it with play on to roughen the surface for grip
2.FF/rew you need a new linkage part

Linkage duplicated in metal

springs made of orthodontic wire
