Looks like this one's heading into the stratosphere price range. Already at $188 GBP with 5 days left. 25 bids and 8 bidders. Interesting to see what some are willing to pay when SEQ worth $100 or so USD and TPS-L2 in that condition $150 or so on high side with a 411000 serial number hardly that adds any value. Maybe am wrong on pricing but its already past value I think. Shall C.

was that equalizer made to be sold with the tps-l2 or just any of the sony's in the early 1980's. wasn't there one on the ebay usa in the past several weeks ? i think i saw one but then again mabey i didn't...
NO it was not made to go with TPS-L2. The SEQ-50 was released I believe in 1983 but definitely not in 79 or 80. Yes you are right about the ebay auction not to long ago the SEQ went for $45. Dog I had intended to bid on it and did not. Here is ebay item number you can still see it.
Sony SEQ-50 Walkman EQ Stereo Graphic Equalizer
Item number: 350169924649
Yeah, John I agree already gone way past their worth. You can often find the SEQ-50 on ebay.de for less than 20 Euros, and the TPS-L2 it's in nice condition, but it's a late one and on it's own.I did bid on these but only 50 GBP not worth much more than that.
Second time round for this auction. Good job the price has entered comedy territory as I smell a rat.

How so Cris?
The seller mentions local pickup, which would make ripping the buyer off difficult.
It's pretty local for me. I could go & pick it up if anyone here wins it, although I suspect not at the current crazy price.
I just recall seeing these pics a few times before, that's all.
Still gutted i didn't go to AC/DC, I had the chance but was on duty with the saucepans.
Ah family life eh?
Didn't remember that you were an AC/DC fan, Cris. I'll try & remember & be in touch next time.
It was a really good show. Somehow that sort of music just works better live than some others.
I'm off to see Ultravox next week too - the "classic" line up are back together again. Bandwaggon, what bandwaggon...?
well someone wanted it badly. Here is the end price. Case of uninformed buyer or ?

i'm going to check my serial numbers on my refurburished tp-ls2's. i never really looked at them. john,, do you have any idea how high they really do go ? is there anybody out there with a rough idea how high they went ?
Hey Reroot....Best I can help is that my TPS-L2 certainly has a pretty high serial number of 349147 Maybe we should do a topic to list the tps-L2 serial number range and if it has walkman, or other names on it or guys/dolls headphone description etc . Possibly we could pool our knowledge get a closer idea of what range of serial numbers had what markings on them and how many were made.

That would be very interesting ! I have a TPS-L2 with a quite low serial number # 14***, but Sony does not answer to my emails for further information.
sony is just plain hard to work with. i wouldn't be surprised if the first 5-10k were released in japan.
Yeah maybe the first ones were from Japan then Malaysia
