Man, I would love to have a boxed WM-10 but not at that price. These prices are out of hand now! Haven't found a decent deal in a long time.

To be honest seller didn't set the price, someone just really want it. It good to know that these units go for that price, new in the box units always go for more I don't think it worth that much, you can get a 701s for $400, but at the same time I paid 1k for the 701t with wood box I thought it was worth it, so someone thinks this unit worth it to them, unit worth as much as someone willing to pay for it.

there's still great deals out there even on ebay. does anyone remember a really ugly picture of a black wm-f100 sony with the center plastic that had fallen off. the bottom looked like it had been sandpapered and it was the worst one you ever saw. it was about 5 weeeks ago. i was the lonely bidder and got it for 99 cents plus 10.00 shipping. i got it promptly in the mail. he had tape on it to hold on the plastic center section and threw it in the middle of a box of shredded paper which had the consistency of flour. i spent an hour cleaning it up and uncovered a mishandeled minty player. i doubt it had ever been used as it felt like it never had a headphone inserted it was so fresh. the only marks on it were some scuffs from some one trying to figure out how to fit that plastic piece back on before taking the tiny picture. i don't know how the lighting made the center look sanded but it was a reflection of sorts. i gave him the best feedback i could think of. i retaped the center section on with doubled sided tape and put a belt on and off she went. one day i will take off the slightly scuffed center piece and put on one without the light scuffing and have a perfect wm-f100 in black which is stunning with the silver lettering. there are plenty of deals out there under 50.00 and even for 10.99 if you look closely.

I wonder, if the serial number on the unit and the box don't match how does this affect the value? Sony usually puts the serial number on the box, I'm not sure about the WM-10 though.

It's all a bit risky with these so called "new in box" items, it may be true but most often it's not. For me the condition is all that counts. Now if the box was still factory sealed, that's a different story.

Comments anyone?

Agree 100 percent they have to be mint, only way I will buy them, no scratch or dents or missing screws and have to be working condition, even then I change the belts and clean and relube the gear, unless it seal in the box.
