I would like to sell a cosmetically almost-perfect example of this walkman. Unfortunately it is not working at the moment; I do not know the reason, but since it operated perfectly the last time I used it 2 or 3 years ago, I would hope that it is something not too major; maybe the battery is kaput, or perhaps the very small amount of green corrosion I can see around the battery terminal is causing the problem. Anyone after one of these models?
Hello!
Do you have the original accessories and the box for this unit?
I do not have the box - who is going to keep a box for 10 years or more, there isn't enough room in people's houses! I have the special earphones and remote control that came with the unit and I think I also have a special battery box that a rechargeable battery fits into. I don't know what other original accessories came with it, if any.
Here is picture of my complete boxed EX20. The add on holder back left photo holds a single AA battery. If you have this holder with battery inserted and attached to end of player it will function without rechargeable

Thank you John!
Therefore you must check out if you have this battery attachment, screw it on and test the walkman with a standard AA battery. It will work regardless of the contacts for the internal rechargeable battery. If the unit is functional that is.
Your most welcome my friend. Of note I am fairly certain on the positive side the std. headphone plug is used to go into remote. Many Sony have that problematic small pin plug. So if he does not have orig. headphones you can use yours. Also on this model which by the way is one of the most solid feeling built heavy units I know of I believe it is one of only players to have specific surround sound circuitry as a sound option. As long as sound is not up loud on some music it is very interesting but muddy's up sound clarity when higher volume.
As I said, I have the original headphones and remote control. I will check to see if I can find the battery holder, and if I do find it will try it with an AA battery and see if the unit works - will keep you posted.

Cool thanks!
Thank you John! I've been looking out for one of thses more modern but still very nice walkmans for a while.
I have now found the AA battery holder; I put a battery in and the unit worked; I then tried the "gumstick" rechargeable again and the unit worked for a few seconds and then died; therefore I now think that there is just a slight corrosion problem and a careful clean of the terminals will sort it out. I have also found another gumstick battery which I am charging up; I will try that and see if it works better.
Anyway the unit is fully operational and if you, Tuna, or anyone else is keen, perhaps you would like to send me a personal message and we can negotiate a price. The package would comprise the WM-EX20, the earphone/remote control apparatus, 2 gumstick batteries, the charger and a little plastic storage case for the spare battery, and the AA battery holder.
Looking forward to hearing from seriously interested buyers. Many thanks.
