Does anyone have a WM-7 in perfect working and cosmetic condition that they want to sell.
Please send me a PM if you do.
Here I see a brand-new Black WM-7 boxed !!
It is complicated to order here .But, must be possible worldwide.
Good luck!
Surely someone has a Sony WM-7 in perfect cosmetic / working condition. I don't need to have the original box or accessories, I'm only interested in how it looks and works?
PM me at gregorybotha@me.com.
Ok, I finally found a Sony WM-7. This one is in mint condition and also came with the original sealed Demo Cassette / Box and all accessories.
It works like a charm. It's also black, I haven't seen it in that colour before and I like it :-).
Congrats on a great find and a most worthy collectible Walkman. I have both the black and silver versions. Black is MUCH more rare to find than silver and without marks even more so as black shows cosmetic damage so much worse than silver. My black one was re belted and works perfect with not one surface mark. Actually find the Dolby on these models to work much better than most b types on other Walkmans especially for this time period. The Dolby has a much less drop off of highs than most other Walkman circuits. Also the original headphones are a real surprise to listen to great clarity and upper range lows of course like most HP of time is only fair but overall especially with piano/ violin this player with its original headphones SHINES !
ENJOY
ps would love to see pictures of BOX and accessories.

Oh my goodness you got more walkmans than anybody on this forum I do believe!
I'll take some more pictures. I've also scanned the Owners Manual if anyone is interested in a digital copy of it.
The headphones are missing the original foam so I'll need to look out for a proper substitute. The belt has been replaced but i was wondering if the original belt was 0.8mm or 0.5mm thick as I didn't replace it myself but did check.
@Greg
Hey Greg, just came across this thread and saw that pic of the WM-7 with the 450 Raptor in the background. Looks like we share the same hobbies.
Interesting...

I'm still a bit of a kid. Buying all those toys that I couldn't afford when I was young :-).
I've got a whole collection of Tamiya R/C cars and buggies going back to 1978. The R/C Heli's are a newer sport for me, they're quite a challenge to fly so that's taking some time to master even though we have great weather in Johannesburg for outdoor flying.
I know what you mean, I'm quite the same. Tons of old MISB 80s toys, comics, planes, helis. The list goes on...good to know I'm not alone
Yeah, getting into helis can be a *****. Pretty much like riding a bicycle for the first time. But once it "clicks" you'll be fine. You'll see.

Uhh, sorry...
Yes I’m just trying to get into RC Helis too, it has not clicked yet. I think a made a mistake on buying a Align Trex 250 probably too twitchy for a beginner. I thought since I have been driving rc cars and bikes for years it would be easy to learn to fly, boy was I wrong.
I am now using Phoenix flight sim to learn from.
Yes, the 250 is a twitchy one. It's an amazing machine for the size, but I can't imagine it being a good heli for someone new to the subject. Better stick to some 500-size chopper when you're starting from scratch. They're heavier and a lot smoother to fly than the smaller ones.
If had had a simulator at hand 15 or so years ago...boy, that would have saved me a lot of time, money and frustration. Sims are definitely the way to go these days.
How happy are you with Phoenix?? I'm kinda married to Realflight, but I've never tried any other sim. What's your verdict?

Realflight
I love the Pheonix, the guy at the model shop recommended it. Even though the shop I got the TRex 250 from only sell Realflight the guy recommended the Pheonix. The Pheonix is cheaper but he said it is a better simulator. After I got it I took it in on my laptop for a colleague of the guy that recommended it to try. This guy has the Realflight simulator and while playing with my Pheonix he said if he had seen the Pheonix before he would have bought the Pheonix. They both said the Pheonix is more realistic compared to flying the real RC helicopter. Apparently the only thing Realflight do better is sound effects.
Well, I guess in the end it's all about getting your directions and hand-eye coordination right. That almost any good sim can do. It provides you with the tools necessary for flying the real thing.
I think I'll now go and hit the field for an hour or so
BTW, where in the world are you toocool?
Well it’s the orientation that is bugging me at the moment.
I’m in England.
I think I will go and get some practice on the sim too.
That looks cool
I still remember drooling over the wm-7, in lasky`s, 198? got one now, but, it`s not the same.
Now that is definiation of collectable and rare! Beautiful and Black too. A very valuable item of your collection. Having the box and all accessories is the most difficult task of collectors. The WM-7 with its orig. headphones is one of my top 15 favorite to listen too. Even took it on a business trip recently.
I have a nice silver one, and will not part with it
I have two silver ones. I may part with one of them, if I can get them both to work perfectly. Their playback right now is a little fluttery. They aren't the easiest walkmans to work on but they are definitely not as hard as the J07, J08 series Aiwa's. You have to desolder certain areas on those to get at the belt. I'm not saying that's hard but it's not exactly something everybody is comfortable doing.
But enough of my babbling about my Aiwa's.
Very Nice Walkman Greg. I'm so jealous. I really don't think we'll see one like that on eBay again. Congrats.
Thanks David, it seems to be getting more difficult to find the rare Walkman's on eBay. My timing was perfect for this one some how
