Tell us, how is a fixed gear better than a new one?

easy !!! a professional fixed gear never will break !!! a original new gear can break !!!

last year i get a DC2 "like new " on ebay. The gear was not broken but after runtine ca. 20hours the gear was broken.

this gear i offer on ebay is fixed and was in a DDII for over 1 year and run a long long time and it was never broken !!!

Interesting concept. So, you're 'reconditioned' wheel has finished shrinking? I thought it was a progressive issue with the constricting plastic e.g. it never stops breaking.

I've got some new replacement wheels which I've had for about 5 years, none of these are showing signs of breaking. I guess it depends on when they were made and whether replacements were made of a different kind of plastic.

How have you fixed this one, what have you filled it with & does it make zero noise when the wheel meets the smaller cog. Also, how can you be certain the playback speed isn't affected by the greater number of teeth?

not ever unfixed gear will break but i think 98%
of all gears are broken.

Its fixed by a DD specialist, i think you know what person i am talking about?

He is member here on S2GO und he knows how to fix that the wheel never will break !!!

The fixed thing is great!
but when it as Agent does say never stops shrinking, is it totally gone then in about 40 years?

And when yes, where is it then? ,
and why does the rest of the walkman not shrink?

Well, I don't know, I was just asking really. At what stage does it stop shrinking? Surely, the best time to fix is when it has stopped shrinking, otherwise it's a pointless repair.

Sorry Corry, I was getting carried away. I know you're a DD expert, can you tell us when the plastic part stops shrinking?

i kown an old man,he fix walkman 30 years.can fix it Perfect。

I think I can call myself an DD-expert .
Number of teeth in the center gear has no effect on speed of the tape.
Because the DD is a direct drive!
This part only drives the spindle.

I do not think that shrinks after 25 years.
Moreover,the ring was rigidly connected with metal wheel.
I repair DD since 2004 and the first units are still works perfectly .
