Hi all, This auction started at $19.99 USD. I emailed him asking him about working condition since auction was vague. NOTE : auction when first posted DID NOT say unit not working, he added in following part the unit does not turn on at all AFTER I emailed him. Part of add: unit worked very well at one time,i have not been able to test it,needs a little sun i think,unit does not turn on at all. After my email he raised min. to $69 greedy guy for a total not working yellow ( least value of colors). At least he added not working after my email.

Hi, Unit has a non replaceable rechargeable battery that the solar panel charges. Often after 20 years this no longer holds charge. Solar panel makes enough power to run radio in bright sun but not cassette without rechargeable working. BUT with AA battery external hooked up cassette works.
Can you test to verify player all functions work correct and plays cassette at proper speed smoothly using external AA. My thanks JOHN


as stated in the auction it worked at 1 time,but it was stored for a few years and now it is pulseless,i can't get it going even with the external battery hookup..I might be doing something wrong,but i doubt it,best left to someone like yourself who seems to be very knowledgeable in these types of walkmans,thanks for asking and bid with confidence,maybe this is a super quick fix,a connection problem,i don't know,,be well..

When I hear such message like this, I tend to run/flee from the auction as quick as I can. Such explanation means "It does NOT work".

To be fair, this seller is stating this in the descrption, so all the info is there for you to make your mind up regarding the user's intent/tact.

Agreed, 'it worked once' should never be an indication of current condition. My favourite is 'unable to test as I don't have a cassette', er, OK. It's a bit like 'Gloves for sale, unable to test as I don't have any hands', or 'car for sale, unable to verify as I don't have any eyes, so it might be a boat, it's your risk'.

Seller added that it does not work after I contacted him and raised price over triple. Agreed ad now reads honestly. Just wanted our group to know was under $20 when he posted auction and he only said it works years ago. Totally agree with you Cris gotta love the excuses sellers give about if walkman works. Kills me when they say works great, I ask if plays steady they say yes and you get player and it sounds like someone gave it a few too many vodka's. Ah the joy's of buying walkmans.
