Someone may still think it is worth 300€ and get it for the opening bid, in which case seller could have had a quicker sale and the money faster from a BIN.

It's not really greed.  eBay in France hasn't really matured in the same way as UK/US and the Frenchies use it more like a Classified site, not unlike Gumtree.  So they simply list stuff with the min price they want as the reserve.  Now, we all know that doing this means they aren't going to get the big bidding war silly money but if it sells then great, if not then they keep listing it until they do.  It's dull but it works.

He would have more bids on it, with a low price, etheir way in this case , it's definitely worth the starting price. I can understand him started it high, as he won't accept less, better then setting a reserve.
