dig deep

The who were never signed by Sony, so that bit is bogus. But very nice 701T. Pity about the price. A reasonable price would be $1500.00.

isolator42 - 2012-05-23 05:16

the text in the letter shows that the artists chosen to receive these commemorative Walkmen were from differing record labels.

Me saying this doesn't mean it isn't all lies of course. It might be true. Costing over $4K to find out is standard issue eBay insanity, IMHO...

I was of the opinion these Tiffany Walkmans were only given to artists recording under the Sony label. Of course I could be wrong. Anyway, should each band member not have been given one?

Check the 3rd paragraph, about nominations.

Each winning nominee got one, it seems...

i agree minty they would have been presented with three i would of thought , as for sony managing or signing them up never happened all my who records are polydor .

If the supporting letter is to be believed (which I've finally uploaded properly now in my previous post), then Sony invited nominations from any music label & chose The Who as one of the winners of this Silver Tiffany Walkman award.

When a band wins a Grammy they don't get one each, do they?

Anyroadup, this could all be total hogwash, & even if it isn't, the price is full-time loony-tunes.

Like it, deliverance

Although I've been at pains to point out the apparent plausibility of this auction, I personally think it stinks to high heaven & wouldn't touch it if it was a BIN for £20.

claret.badger - 2012-10-29 17:35

The WHO walkman just appeared on an edition of PAWN STARS

Minty - did you know that?

minty - 2012-10-29 23:28

Yea. I seen it. Sold for 1200 dollars I think. His ex wife sold it. Apparently he left her with nothing in his will.
