Is that the same chassis as the WM EX-49? I got one of those (EX-49) in May 1992! £60 from local Sony Centre. My friend said I was mad. I didn't care. I've had 3 very similar WM's with near identical chassis/parts and they ALL had the same idiosyncrasies - they eventually started to squeal like pigs! Still got my WM BF 608, need to get that fixed . What's that in the top right corner? Is there a doctor in the house?

Yes WM-602 is same mechanics as the Wm-EX49 and rarer EX49C(US and CAN), WM-B603 is a very rare Dolby C version EUROPE/ORIENT of the EX-49C and the WM-2091 (dolby B) all had same chassis/mechanics.
HERE is pics of the WM-2091 on left and WM-B603 on right.

Yes I remember - it was also my LAST Sony walkman
I roadtested Aiwas - but decided upon the Panasonic RQ S75
at the time - that thing was a beast with it's dual rotor motor, split shellcase, in line remote, eq modes, auto tape detect and sound quality.
I went through about 3 of them - ack
