Maxim, maybe you should consider trying to replace the belt to see if it works. Perhaps that's the reason buyers are unsure.

You don't think the $550 price tag is putting them off?

Just ask yourself a question,
How many times did you see in your life wm-40 red...?
Boodo boxed for 0.5k 2-3 years ago maybe that true
But for now, try to put yourself at my place, and get the point.
kin - 2013-03-10 11:07
yes it's true, but you might get more money than half a K from it if it works and proven that the electronics are in tact.

Not me, but somebody, someday will come along that Love's this model and has extra Money, Skills and or ablility to open this to replace the 'New' belt that come's with this model.
This will relive the burden of the seller selling something that knowingly did work back when ( according to the seller ) and offer's the only known solution free of charge 'belt', which are hard to find period.
Rare this model is I am not aware of it's old - I know that

You have to remember that the percepetion of the seller is rarely shared by that of the buyer. I could advertise my daughter for a huge sum, she's valuable to me obviously but I doubt if many would pay a fraction of the asking price. Don't get me wrong, she's a great girl, good at sewing and all sorts but only really worth something to me (And her mother, wherever she is).
Do you see what I'm saying.
Also, you have to remember that there's only 10 people in the world who collect these things (you're talking to them now) so you're really very dependent on those ten people a) seeing your ad, b) needing that model in that colour and condition & c) Having that kind of money to spend. The there's desirability, yes the WM-40 is a top twenty model, even more so in this condition but it really has to be a fully functioning (maybe boxed) top 5 model to command this kind of money.
Also, you've got to fix that belt. If you don't fancy doing it yourself then send it to DrWalkman or Retrodos, both excellent walkman engineers, it will add so much more value to your item with only a small outlay.
Even if one or two folks meeting the above criteria come along, the price will put them off, reserve prices always do. A reserve price tells any potential buyer that a) the seller knows he's got something special and b) the seller is scared i.e. values the item and isn't prepared to take the risk that it will go for a very low amount, it could also sometimes mean c) that the seller is very greedy but you said it has value to you then we're prepared to wave 'c)'. You're just putting walls in front of your audience.
Be brave, it will do well, just let it go, put it on a no reserve auction. No reserve auctions get infinately more interest, buyers will 'watch' your item then with any luck you'll get a bidding war at the end, I've seen it happen, it's great. You will know by your watchers on the last day how the auction will go, if you're not happy by then just pull it from sale. I don't approve of this but it's a bailout option.

I have daughter, she is 12 now, she is telling that I need to be prepaired to she says " I'm going to be married" or "I'm pregnant"... So .... Think just 12...
All I'm selling is my memories, just my few what was impotant for me, so it is not just for money, as you can expect, just you need to understand, all meaning is simple, time is come to give all I've got to somebody really lucky..
