Oh crikey, why didn't you buy a more common unit back then? You're going to have a job finding one of these beauties I'm affraid. My advice to you is to keep your eye on eBay.de. I was lucky enough to find the below unit from a German seller four or five years ago. This unit had a lot of issues but if you find one please send it to me & I'll happiliy fix it up for you.

Thanks for the tip! I shall do that. There are quite a few more AIWAs listed there.

On the link i provided the unit is listed as an 'HS-T600a'. A discerning eye might note that on that photo that 'HS-T09' doesn't appear on the front of the case, but on your photo it does. Did Aiwa have a practice of having different model #s for the same unit? Anyway, the HS-T09 also had a great case.

Anyway- I didn't know that this was scarce. And to quote Matt Lucas from 'little britain'- "It's GOH-geous".

Yes, you're 100% correct Aiwa US & European naming conventions were different during this period for some odd reason. So, I suggest you keep an eye open for both.

i tracked down a German DUAL cassette deck and a Yamaha RX-330 for old time's sake. Nothing like a challenge.
Good thing my Sony WM-20 is still working.
