What Cars do you guys drive?

im.out.of.hear - 2008-12-07 17:09

love the beemers,i like old beemers best..and i liked davelc2`s black mitsibishi a cuple of years ago..nice vee-hicles..

johnnygto - 2008-12-07 19:41

Those are some beautiful cars guy!!! I love 'em all the BMW's rock, and GSBADBMR you have good taste in your wheels/height/bodykits!!! Very tasteful.

FatDog - who can argue with a plush white BMW!!! Nice car!!

DaveLC2 - you're my hero!! I love the GN's - Its a fine example of taking small displacement and excellent drivabilty and forceing air into the badmofo to make it a BEAST!!!

The cars say alot about what you guys are like, you are obvious people who not only love boomboxes but appreciate other fine things in life.

I'm a autobody painter by trade and have been since 1992. I love cars and anything oldskool Smile I sold a 1968 GTO clone to get my Cobra and I have a late 1970's Margay racing kart on a stand in my basement - next to my boomboxes Smile

I truly believe "don't crush 'em, restore 'em"

same goes for everything cars to radios!

It's the ultimate recycling Smile

Thanks for sharing your pics!

Johnny

Jens, when my Ford finally goes to that great blue-oval dealer in the sky I'll be moving onto a V70 too. I'll be over 40 by then, so it's time for a Volvo Smile
However, it won't be a oil-burner like yours. I'm after a T5 'cos I'm such a child & like to go fast. I'll have to convert it to LPG/autogas because, in the UK, it half the price of unleaded.

Wow, some amazing cars!! Dave is that the 3.8 turbo grand national engine, or the 4.3 turbo that came a bit later?

I Agree Riddler, another Camaro owner Cool I'm digging your menacing looking SuperSport bro. My wife is giving me her approval to get the new Camaro. Problem is, I have my 69 & 2000 Camaros and our Infiniti QX56. She says I'll have to trade in my 2000 for the 2010 (or 2011 convert). Too many cars she says. Frown

It's from my old 86 T-type which shares the same drivetrain as the Grand National. I want to install my vintage Alpine Cassette deck in tehre too.

Hey Dave! Shout out... The El Camino is one clean machine! I guess you won't be driving the Mistubishi anymore, so sell me the EVO! (that's a newer one than you had when I was out there, right?). Great work bro! DD

What's going on bro? Yeah the newer Evo is a '06 instead of an '03. Thanks for the plug. The body on the El Camino has taken a beating from not being driven for about 4yrs and sat out for some of that time. The body needs some work and I would like to get new trim and paint the car. That would be sweet! I am shooting to enter it in The Good Guys All American Get Together car show at the end of the month just for fun.

Hey D!
Now that I'm gradiated from my Masters program, and may actually start making enough money to live on (what a concept!), I'm thinking about updating my "ride situation".

You have been most influential in my thinking process and I'm remembering our "mindbending" ride through S.F., and thinking, no, actually, obsessing about an EVO!

My current desktop: Roll Eyes

davelc2 - 2009-04-04 09:52

That's a cool desktop! You put that all together? All Wheel Drive makes sense in the snow so the wife might just go for that Razz

I just noticed your location! That Grand Cherokee must be worth a lot of money down there. Did you have a RHD conversion done or was it already done? I've seen some of the conversions on Vettes and Silverado trucks and they look just like they came from the factory that way.

I only tell you this because it all started because I wanted some things done on my car but everyone wanted an arm and a leg for a couple pieces to be done.

Anyway, my pride, joy, and pain in the ass(yes it is purple):

1995 Ford Contour SE 3L(taurus motor) w/ built MTX trans all work done by me, SVT body kit, 13" BAER brake kit, interior, etc... 214k on the chassis, 20k on motor and 2k on trans.

weylandyutani - 2009-05-07 01:28

Funny thing is I am a Ford nut however despite the huge Ford versus Holden/chev thing down here it would be funny to see a holden cruising frisco I know how much it would stand out. Man I loved being in san francisco.

Found some old pics of my [now sold but missed] Ford RS sierra cosworth. This passive looking car packed over 350 horses of 2ltr turbocharged power. English lads would be more likely to recognise this 80,s icon.

Those cars are pure sex! I would give my lefty to own one of those. My dream car if I lived in New Zealand (Maybe some day since my wifey is a kiwi) would be a Evo 6.5 TME. I also wouldn't mind owning a HSV Maloo or a Ford Falcon Ute XR6 with the 4.0L Turbo six. Those are nice! With holden having the VE Commodore as a Pontiac G8 (currently) and the Ute coming here as a Pontiac G8 ST (Sport Truck), I was hoping Ford would send us the Falcon since Ford doesn't have a decent rear wheel drive car up here in the states. I guess that's not happening now Frown

My wife is from a small town called Wairoa about an hour and a half outside of Napier. Where are you from?

Dave

weylandyutani - 2009-05-08 13:54

I was born and raised on the mean streets of SOUTH AUCKLAND I now live in a bit of a snobby area known as REMUERA. But tell your wife that my wife is a born and bred HASTINGS girl. They have some tough little cookies born down that way dont they? South auckland is a bit Gang orientated these days including good ole favourites like the bloods and crypts a shame for me to see.

I just saw a Starion/Conquest the other week. They are pretty hard to find around here. They are on craigslist for under $5,000 now days. Some are even $1,500

Ahhh Conquest thats It I was trying to remember what they were in the states.

skippy1969 - 2009-05-08 16:52

I was going to buy a Chrysler Conquest TSI back in 1992,but someone who traded it in at the chrysler dealership I worked at lied and said the car was never in a wreck. When I test drove it it drove terribly. So I put it on the lift and discovered it had been in a major accident and had subframe damage. We found out later that the car had sideswiped a tree.... Eek Needless to say the dealer sued the customer to get it fixed correctly. I decided not to buy the car..... Frown
The one I was going to buy looked exactly like this one.
