Just popped in to say hello....
Have not really been posting much (not a lot to say).
Yes, one thing... I got a good little thing off of Yahoo Japan!
Do not want to talk about it yet for it is not in my hands. So, when it gets here I will post and add pics!!!!

No, it is not a 508... but I did get a 305!!!! Ordinary sound as well. It is not at a 100%, so I am looking, every-so-often' on Yahoo to find a doner one (why I cannot use a 9191 doner is because of the ajustable tape speed and other stuff that is not found on a 9191).
So, the looks of a 508 must be AWESOME!!!!!! But it does not sound great? Wow!
Go figure.
My new thing is going to be a lot smaller!
(It has to get here first!)

The GF 508 SB doesn't sound better than a GF 9797 , GF 9595 , GF 9191, .....,......
In fact , it just sounds the same

It might just be possible that the Japs (Sharp) did not push to much for quality sound for their domestic sales... yet concentrated more on the "Quality" for their exports (more money if the foreign customer is happy).

yo bredgeo..that walkman you got is almost the same as the top cassette deck off the Hitachi TRK W1E,there is one on ebay right now..

One last little thing.
I went back to the Yahoo Japan sell to have a look and saw that the switch WAS on the CP1... So it was removed or lost at wrapping!
I did go through the whole wrapping paper and box, the whole damn thing, and it was not there. So, yes, lost in the wrapping or removed!
