I had (have?) a Devo album way back when.... it had an order form where you could order a complete Devo "whip-it" costume. Thank God I never ordered it... I would have never dated.... EVER. Whip It!

I can't believe we all survived the 80's. It is weird... it all seemed so "normal" then. I remember dating a girl who had the multi-layer, leg-warmer, dangly ear-ring, puffy hair look. There was so much on her it took all night just to get my way down to the "good stuff"! Eek

man I remember that video!! LOL

I also remember Mixing whip it in the late 70's early 80's I think i would mix it with Numbers...... man its been a while LOL.

Man, that "Whip It" is such a classic. I saw them at the Agora Ballroom in Cleveland (near their hometown of Akron, Ohio) 1978, about a week after their Sat. Night Live appearance and performance of "Satisfaction" made them internationally famous overnight! As I remember, the show was sold out, so we found tickets outside the show for face value, $5.50!

I found a copy of the ticket stub from the show!

Oh, and Willie Alexander and the Boom Boom Band, they opened this show, is one of the hardest working late seventies Hard Rock touring bands, they were great live, Willie actually took over for Lou Reed for a short time in the Velvet Underground before it's demise. If you see Willie Alexander on vinyl, it's very good, grab it. Just straight ahead guitar driven, kind of New York Doll's-ish rock'n'roll, before rock got pretentious and hairy-ier in the mid 80's... Roll Eyes

It was a relatively small club, maybe 3 or 4 hundred crammed in... we were of course, right up front, and I just remember everyone raising their hands "you got your left hand... you got your right hand", and all the locals knew Devo's songs, and we didn't know what the hell was going on, but it was an incredible show!
