Im going to put together my frst computer . The ancient first one I have now which is 5 years old technology. I want to go with an AMD processor. What is a good MOBO /CPU bundle that you knoew of? Is DDR2 memory the way to go? I'd like to upgrade the memeory to arounfd 3GB and also have space to connect 4 drives onto the board.

I'd recommend waiting for a few months until the new Windows 7 is out

I rather get a cheapo box and try Linux Ubuntu. About 600.00 cheaper.I never had such great luck with Linux. But if I can browse the net and get email Im willing ot give it another shot. I have a windows computer for everthing else.

I love my MAC more than all my PCs.... If you don't use a MAC on a daily basis you have no idea what you are missing.

Talk about wasting the poor guys time..... Wink

I have clone capable hardware and run several OS's including OSX. Graphically, it's great, and some nice built in tools. For the average computer user that doesn't need to put a lot of software onto it, OSX is almost a no brainer if you're willing to learn a few different concepts for how to get around in the OS.

I guess it all depends upon how you use it. I have many different needs and have to switch between several OS's, and the one I actually use the least is OSX.

Also, I wouldn't wait for Windows 7 to upgrade. I'm running the Beta now, and it's much better than Vista already (not that doing so is very difficult). Whatever you get now will run Windows 7 when it GA's better than Vista runs now.

Go get you a nice Phenom CPU, 4 gigs and let 'er rip! Just about anything larger than a Micro ATX motherboard is going to have at least 4 SATA ports. I would head over to newegg.com and read through the reviews to see what folks are happiest with for all of the parts you want to get.

If you need help making a decision after that, feel free to PM and I'll lend a hand with that.
