StarBlazers was the the first animated series I had seen with a real deep storyline and major character development... Besides the obvious action going on, there was a lotta drama as well. Characters - good or bad - got killed (which is something you'd NEVER see in American cartoons). It was kinda like an animated space soap opera - the greatest of all time, in my opinion!
BTW, Desslok was the man, the Comet Empire was no joke, and Nova...
There were so many good shows back in the day. 3 of my personal favorites were:
1 - Giligans Island
2 - Happy Days
3 - Three's Company
Keep in mind there were so many other great shows...but these 3 above i LOVED

Hi Monolithic-It's nice to see that there is some true Popeye & Porky fans out there!!
I used to watch a show in the morning before school that just had Popeye & Porky Cartoons (Old Ones)
I had to say that-that's when cartoons were really made well!!
I had to add:
(4)The Honeymooners
(5)The Brady Bunch
(6)The Underdog Show
(7)Lunch With Casey
(8)And last but not least Grandpa Ken W/Davey & Goliath & Tudor Turtle!
By the end of the 70s,I was just over my mid teenage years.During those years I loved most everything about the early to mid 60s,particularly music and television.I would pretty much only watch rerun from the 1960s if I watched television in my youth. There were certain shows that were just total bliss to watch from that era.The Monkees,Get Smart,The Munsters were good examples of these.Lost in space had the most incredible sound effects and music.
The Prisoner in particular at one point was almost an obsession with me.Everything was perfect with that show. The writing, production, camera work, music, swinging '60s elements, mainstream clothing styles of the era fit my every preference. It was a true work of art,to me the pinnacle for T.V. as a singular artistic vision.
The shows of the 70s just seemed shabby to me by comparison.Production values and writing were just not the same. There's really not a whole lot I liked superficially about the 1970s to be honest.Style was horrible and much of the music was personally uninteresting to me.I rather understood the frustration of the punks and their attitudes about that era.During those years I always looked back to the previous decade or ahead for something different.
The '80s really delivered for me in the areas of style and music.Unfortunately by that time I had given up on television.I've been largely ignorant of the programming since then.I'm sure there's been some great shows along the way. However,If I watch T.V. these days history, science topic shows, etc. are the only things I can sit through.I never go to the movies or rent them either.Though I still like them,I've even lost interest in watching those classic shows I like as I've seen them all.
My favorite classic show just might be "I Dream of Jeannie" for reasons that may be obvious to some.I had a crush on Barbara Eden from probably 3 months old (and still do).
In fact here she is with her favorite Sanyo,a 9990
I'm sure this thread was meant for just a list. But of course you all know I'm always stuck in "TMI" mode

Good Times was Dynamite!
Sanford and Son
Chico and the Man
dukes of hazzard
fall guy

mcgeiver
I'm with ALL of MONOLITHIC's! Starblazers was utterly amazing, revisited it recently and it still holds up. Battle of the Planets does too... worth hunting dow the the original .jp series which was much more adult, and didn't have any 7-Zark-7 buffoonery. Interesting reading up on how much they really changed the original series to fit in a kids timeslot.
I'll add:
Monkey
Get Smart
ALF
Young Ones
Metal Mickey
Ulysses 31
Fawlty Towers
The Goodies
Rock On.
Just about all my favorites have been covered by members. But I'll also add all the Sat. morning kid shows from back in the early-mid 70s like Sid & Marty Croft's Sigmund and the SeaMonsters, H.R. Puff N Stuff, The Banana Splits, BigFoot, Shazaam, UltraMan, MonsterZero vs. Godzilla, Conjunction Juction(what's your function?), the 60's series of GetSmart and The Monkees and other similars. Anyone else remember those zany kid shows?
Hey no one said the new zoo review
or how about my three sons or family affeir.
1. Green acres.
2. Happy days.
3. Bonanza.
