Sad day for Swat members!

ford93 - 2008-02-07 07:13

My heart goes out for the LA Swat officer family and the gunman's family. The first officer to die in the line of duty since Swat was formed in 1971. They say this officer has done a lot for the community including toy drives for children.I will pray for him and the victims, sad day indeed! Frown

I agree, it's always a sad time when human trash takes the life of an upstanding citizen. The fact that these were SWAT officers serving the public and helping to keep us safe just makes it that much sadder. Frown

My prayers are with the families of these officers. We could never thank them enough for their sacrifice.

I'm with you on this one Ford. Unfortunately, and I can say this being ex-military, the few who go out there every day are never really appreciated until they're gone. I too pray for the families. They are in incredible grief for sure as well as the S.W.A.T Team members.

I pray for the gunmans' family too. Too often we focus soley on the perpetrator of the crime. We need to realize that the families of these individuals often find themselves in shock and sadness because they now have to deal with issues of being the family of the criminal. This usually results in them getting pi***ed on by the public even though it isn't their fault. I'm black and don't blame anyone for what their great, great, great, great grandaddy may or may not have done. Though completely different situations, the execution is similar and it happens in cases like this. This is a kind of stress that never gets mentioned. While everyone feels bad for the victims, and rightly so, the family of the gunman may have rocks thrown at them or they themselves be threatened. Sad indeed because the gunman died also but few will care.

As far as the gunman, whatever his motive was he needs prayer. We cannot judge anyone because we ourselves are full of faults. Bad is bad, there is no meter or measurement. Just pray for him. He is meeting his judge right now. Frown
