can't afford it Ira, bought 2 boomboxes this week and Linda is getting ready to do a big shopping trip for next Saturdays big event.
What I was asking about don't remember if it was a Sony or what but it was a tape deck only that had a tray that came out where you layed the cassette in, I think they were available about the time that CD's came out as people were buying and installing CD players and they still needed somewhere to play the cassettes they still had so the tape only player became available.
it was sony that made that tape deck i remember having one with the cd type slide out tray where the cassette sits it was a nice unit ,also pioneer/radio shack also made the cassette only players for cars.
Krako or Bowen or Craig
yea thats krako alright
My first car stereo was mustang, not sure if they made just a deck though

I had a PIONEER Cassette that I bought from a friend. It was a little under-dash (don't hear that term often anymore...) unit he had in his 63 Comet. I put it in my 65 GTO. Kept it in the glove-box as to not interfear with the original dash / looks. Removed it to install in my 80 Vespa, again in the glove box of the scooter. I cut holes and put speakers in the box too. Mistake was facing them down towards my feet. Never sounded good. After a couple years removed it from the scooter and installed in my crazy girl friend's Oldsmobile. It worked great. One night, I wasn't there, apparently she spilled wine INTO THE TAPE DECK! HOW? Don't know. Did I mention she was crazy? She did have a nice boom-box too. I think a high end model, Squared but with detachable speakers. Black with orange trim. Lots of eqz. Search. Duel cassette. Heavy. Very good sound and loud. Maybe a JVC or...
