wow
http://cgi.ebay.com/GRUNDIG-SA...7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50i have one of these mine isnt mint in box but mine is pretty damn fine.
its my favorite non boombox radio.
it has better sound than anyone would believe for a seven watt radio in fact better sound than a lot of things that even stereo.
i am betting this radio is going to hit over two grand at the end of it.
mine is a bit used but i was offered six hundred bucks for it as is.
well i bet this will be interesting to see how much it sells for.
it is a beautiful piece of equipment.
WOW !! that must be one heck of a fine radio....

i have the ocean boy,and transistor 5000 very similar radios,as well as the yahtboy portable,Grundig radios= damn good!
over $700,i'd rather have the sattelitte 650,for that kind of $$ though, way too much 350.00 is a much more reasonable price for this radio even in minty like new shape, imho.
yeah they are really fantastic. in fact i like the way mine sounds better than just about any of my boomboxes at lower volumes.
one thing about these that is just incredible is when you open up the wooden case the amount of moving parts inside will just drop your jaw.
the tuner for shortwave in on a drum that rotates like a old tv tuner drum.
there is a elaborate clutch system in there for switching the tuner needle from different functions.
the thought of the tuner thread breaking sends waves of terror through me as the maze of turns and twists it takes within the case is like some kind of mc escher painting.
i mean it just is fantastic.
mines not as nice as that one but it is in vgc the one i have.
i paid five bucks for mine.

$600.00

WOW Five bucks!! you got a deal Bill.
jaredscottfla - 2009-03-24 19:01
the 650 is a fine fine radio for sure. it just dosent have the glitz of that 6001 tho. i dont know why the 6001 sounds so good but i just love mine.
yes i paid 5 bucks for mine at a sally ann. they said it didnt work...the mains switch wasnt flipped to the proper position.
i took it home mine was pretty filthy when i got it but it cleaned up really nicely and well i just love the thing.
i think these early grundig shortwaves are really cool both in how they look and how they work.
i am going to wait and see where this one goes.
maybe i will sell mine maybe i wont.
i mean i think these are going to keep going up in value.
i come across 650s pretty often up here in the rich peeps thrift store on the north shore. i see them usually go for a hundred bucks there. i might grab one at some point.
i have a feeling this radio is going to really go for a lot of money in this auction.
lets face it back in the day they cost a price only the well to do could afford.
jaredscottfla - 2009-03-24 19:24
omg bill are u serious satt 650's for a benjamin!!!!!!
pleez i've wanted since i started as a dxer and swler 25+ yrs ago.!!!!
Even my tube and tranny zenith t.o's would be nothing compared to a working 650!!!!!!!!!
If u ever come across them please let me know,i will def trade or make it worth it for you!
hey man tell you what next time i see a 650 for a cheap price i will buy it and get a hold of you.
i love those t.o. radios as well.
i missed out on one of those recently in the box for a price i will not mention.
it was a transistor version but really nice too.
dont forget either those are candian dollars.
up here its pretty hard to get good short wave reception. i mean you can do it but you need lots.
of wire.
i have a couple of radios that get really awesome shortwave reception. the grundig is one of them.
for sure tho i will let you know if i snag a cheap 650.
there is a lot of things up here that well go for nothing in thrift stores.
part of the reason is there is so many people from far aways places who work in those shops.
they have no idea what anything is worth so often you will walk in and they will have outrageously low prices on things.
for them its just old crap.
it is odd how a modern clock radio is often priced for more than you can buy one new,but some really nice old electronics are priced so low they are practically free.
just the other day i got a pair of large vintage advents for five bucks as well.
jaredscottfla - 2009-03-24 19:54
yeah the advents will need some work soon, but they are really nice and well the walnut cabs are just beautiful.
i even managed to get them with the grills in near new condition.
i dunno its like someone bought them and never used them.
they are huge.
will let you know if i find a 650.
you are on the same piece of land so it should not be to much to ship.
jaredscottfla - 2009-03-24 22:33
thanks bro,i appreciate it!
WOW OVER TWO GRAND NOW.
Gawd that is just nuts! WOW.........
Yes i think this radio might go for a lot more yet.
i think i may sell mine. i mean mine isnt brand new in the box but i think if this radio tops three grand i should be able to get rid of mine for a grand easily.
it is a really amazing portable radio and it does sound fantastic i mean for a transitor radio it sounds shockingly good.
this being said i just cannot believe how high it is right now.
i hope it goes for a lot more.
best five bucks i spent i think

these usually go for a lot of money. this one is going for big cash tho.
jaredscottfla - 2009-03-28 19:34

its still got a ways to go , i think you might have to revise your 1600 number.
i for sure dont think that they are worth that price. hell i dont think they are worth half the price.
that being said i am very glad to see these are getting more expensive.
i think who ever gets this has got to be well off.
Well this must be a steal for Grundig STEREO version.
this is another nice one. How do so many people have these radios with boxes and papers ? I can't keep track of my car keys !

that stereo boy is a nice radio but its not as good as the 6001 i would trade my 6001 for that grundig stereoboy in a heartbeart tho.
it think that stereo boy wil double in price before that auction is over.
Very high!
yeah i think i am going to get rid of mine now.
i will miss it but i wont miss the money.
