jaredscottfla - 2008-08-16 23:06
No place to run to Skip,
I'm an ol' Pro at storms allready been thru 20.
I'm nr The coast so it makes it def more interesting
hi jared ---
you're screwed
I would not like to live in florida, it is way too
hot anyway plus those stupid storms
well those stupid storms are never a worry --for us lucky floridians (like me) who live in trailer parks !!!!!!!!!!!!!
as I told reddyjobanana....
Thinking I must:
get generator from storage unit
Fill Gas cans
Fill some 5 gallon water containers
Top off gas tank
refill empty BBQ propane tank
.....all to do's tomorrow if situation deteriorates
UE --if ,tueday night -when the the hurricane is approaching your front door --
and betty allows you to rescue only ONE box --
is it that silly sansui ??
(the 700)
silly is my middle name, but no, in honor of my brother Jens, it have to be the TPR. (esp after the hours of open heart and intestines surgery kittmaster performed on it)
Successful surgery of course.
How about you, I, if you were me, what would I save?
if Betty would permit me to save only ONE --
it would be my pioneer 900

Aye Vay.
At least we will be able to chuck a set of D's into a boombox or 5 so we can listen to some tunes when the power cuts out for a week.
Ft. Myers to Tampa Bay.....Frack!
just in --huge good news from the box gods --
they moved the track away from juan, ed, jt, jovie and ta-
and out towards the panhandle --where there are no known box collections
jaredscottfla - 2008-08-17 13:51
yep Ed,looks like this will be a west coast Florida storm.
But we here on the east coast in dade and broward and the keys will still get alot of rain
and tropical storm force winds. Schools are allready closed, and i heard the po may close for tommorow as well.
All part of living in Fla,u can't beat the weather most of the time but hurricanes are just part of living here, hopefully FAY will not be too bad of a storm, Right now still a Tropical Storm but is Expected To become a Hurricane by Tues.

I'm just hoping it stays way out in the Gulf, I'm near the coast west of Clearwater. I experienced Francis, Charlie, Rita, Wilma and Katrina I'm done with Hurricanes. I remember during Wilma I lived in a condo down in Miami. I remember feeling the building shaking, when Wilma past over us I stepped out to the pool area only to discover one side of buildings apartments from the penthouse down to the first floor were destroyed by a water spout. All the items from those apartments were sucked out.
everybody evacuate to Sorrento!!!
Yup, here we go again!!! Time to board up the windows...
I experienced that same set of storms that Juan (Ford93) was talking about and it can be quite nerve wracking... However, at least our house is concrete block and solidly built to 2004 code specs... The garage door is reinforced, too.
Short of a 30' storm surge flooding the area, we should be okay here in Palmetto...
If we lose power for a period of time, I've got a generator, a gas grill, plenty of beer, a deck of cards and a bunch of D-cell batteries! I'll be boomin'!
jaredscottfla - 2008-08-17 23:58
Sounds like you are all set Jt,that's good.
I'm in an Evacuation Zone, So we all go to my Mom's when we are forced out, thank goodness not this time, but it is a grind with these storms, the kids are happy as there is no school!
update --aside from a few dozen tornadoes yet to dodge --
our collection may not get blown away ,,,,,,,,,,
except -- asking you west coast coast florida members-
how long can you tread water ?
Hey, Red the east side of the storm is the strongest plus the news just advised that Fay is moving slightly to the east. So be on the look out.
yup, Juan -- was sort of noticing that the rain squalls over here are MUCH heavier than we were prepared for --
this sucks !!!!!!!!!!
I hope you've got your skipper hat and coat ready. Remember do not board any vessel by the name S.S. Meadow I hope I've got that right.
i told you that i would have to tie ira to a post
That would be a Kodak moment.
Do the woodies float?
sorry to give you the bad news he let all the water out
Ira where are you, I hope you're still with us and not floating away.
Well I hope all is well when it's done.
I used to live (and was born) in Tornado Alley (Lawton Oklahoma), so although hurricanes suck, there's nothing like having to hide in a hole thirty or so times a year.
I hope Ira is in one of them.
After five hurricanes during 2004 & 2005 I'am done no more for me.

Depended on where you were relevant to the twister!
that may untie him from the post
transamguy1977 - 2008-08-18 19:40
Well I see none of us have floated away yet.
Ive got my place boarded up and we are good to go.
All of the boxes and electronics are unplugged , we have batteries , oil lamps flashlights etc.
We are currently under a tornado warning and the wind is starting to gain strength.
Lets hope for the best because the storm is definitely strengthening .
just announced all the school closings --
but it makes no difference ---
since nobody around here ever goes to school when --
the surfs up !!!
the direct hit was collier county --
home of the bandit ,
and the TA family -
hope you got thru it ok --
let us know
hope all ok TA way....at least it was still a TS
transamguy1977 - 2008-08-19 05:50
everything Kool over here.
lots of rain and wind.
we will have a nice day off today
jaredscottfla - 2008-08-19 05:51
Hope all is ok,we got an F1 tornado here in hallandale,no major damage but alot of tree debris and stuff.
This Hurricane is a monster it's actually getting stronger over land wow! We are lucky over on the west side, if this Hurricane would have moved a little more to the west side over the Gulf she would have blown up to a cat 2 or 3. Tampa lucked out but it's not over there is a high on the east that might push Fay back over to the Gulf. This reminds me of Francis which stalled on the east atlantic near Melbourne Fl. almost three days of strong winds just pounding away.
